hello fantastic fans,..........

i'm on telly tonight at 7.30........ details to follow.....

i 'm back in timperley now,.... my areoplane came into manchester this morning. i've dropped off my films at the chemist,.... so there'll be some pictures up soon. plus some film of me onstage in new york and coney island along with a full report on all things new york and the 'dennis and lois' channel 4 documentry.... if you want to listen to my radio interview on dean and don's "experience" show,.... then go to http://donstugots.podomatic.com/
it's ace to listen to,.... but the first song is missing off the show,..... just the sound of me in my chair... that's good.

meanwhile i was sraight off the areoplane and off into altricham with a "setanta sport" film crew ,.... who filmed me chatting in the streets about tonights footie game - alty f.c. vs. woking - which is on setanta 1 at 7.30pm. the match kicks off at 7.45 live ,... so my bit will be in the first 15mins (with 'the robin's' song !).

hello fantastic fans,.............

,.... and as we move into july 2007 for my review of last year,... one thing had been popping into my head in a big way ...... ...... and i had been grabbing odd hours in june between my showbizness commitments to rumage round my mum's house,... in the loft,... under the stairs,... in the cellar,.... in the cupboards/wardrobes/and under the bed ,.... and even in my shed,..... in the search for one thing ............

........... art !

for july was going to see the launch of my first ever london art show - at 'the chelsea space' just next to the tate gallery,.... and i had to find enough to fill the whole gallery,..
the entrance,... the downstairs room and the long corridor,.... would i have enough ???.

i needn't have worried, as on the 3rd of july the chelsea space open for a private viewing (of which i sent out a special 'print and cut-out' invitation to you - all my myspace fans, ..... and i broke the record for the most people in the chelsea space ever for a opening night (thank you if you came ) ) ........ and i had taken down so much stuff that the basment of the royal chelsea college of art had to put up with the huge overflow for the next month.

it hard to describe just what was in the gallery,..... but briefly,.... as you walked in the was a small entrance with some framed mono prints which i had done specially for the show the week before,... then that led to the "frank's world" room. which had a giant projector showing the 11minute 37 second 'frank's world' animation ,... along with all the props and sets and costumes and artwork etc that went into making it.

then there was a corridoor which went up to the next level which had all my felt-tip pen drawings that made the "pumpkinhead" film ,...



which was on at the end of the corridor on a big screen.



the main gallery was then full of everthing i've done over the last 35years (since i was born) and included my "propper telly show in b/w" set with episodes being shown in a table - with free 3d glasses,..... my washing of showbiz clothes hanging on a line across the gallery space,...... and even my garden shed,.... and millions of more things like a new puppet theatre ,... a constant display of super 8mm home movies on one wall,.... the channel m 'test card' on another screen,.... the 1991 pilot for my "fantastic shed show" on a screen - in the shed,.... plus loads and loads of artwork done in , felt-tip,.. crayon,.. poster paint,... oil paint (very messy),.. charcoal,.... chalk,... pencils ,.... plus i'd come in every couple of days over the month for a hour or so,... and have a root in the basement,... and put new stuff up,... and chat with the people who came in,.....



so it was a ever changing show. .... i even sang a song or two on odd days........



more will be added to this over the next few days ,.... so keep blogging on... but it finished with me doing a live concert in the tate gallery itself.



but meanwhile,....... i still had loads of showbizness to do over the next few moths -
including radio interveiws with iain lee on lbc,...bob fisher at bbc cleveland,...adam walton on bbc wales,... sandra at wfm,... vicky at cheshire fm,... wayne dutton at pure fm,...caroline rennie at all fm,.... plus open the new thameside radio station with a open air roadshow concert in ashton market before doing the live studio stuff.

,..... and on the live front,... i did g.j.'s in london,... bethnal green working mens club (which i've still not been paid for !!!),... and the bull and gate in kentish town,..





then ouside london i did some of the ace festivals through the summer,.... like
the rthym festival in bedford (whch was ace as my mate john cooper clarke was on in the same army hut as me),... and the riverside festival,.....



then onto the bloom festival in gloustershire,... and finishing up at the rebellion punk festival,...

unfortunatley i found out seconds before going onstage ,... that my mate tony wilson had just died,... but the whole place joined me in a rousing tribute as we all belted out "love will tear us apart" .... not a dry eye in the house.

the summer ended with a promonard day time showbiz spectacular in rhyl,... with me,... kylie manouge and robbie williams all live onstage. ,... but don't get too excited as i was the only real one ,... the others were 'look-a-likes' booked by my agent (and arch enemy) nigel round.

september saw me doing three weddings and a stag doo (honestly),... 3 more "magical timperley tour" open top bus trips (plus concert).,.... the start of me doing channel m's new "saturday social live",... a hacienda quiz night at urbis,.... which had me ask such questions as -----
-----------"how many guns were taken into the hacienda in the last 3 years of it being open????,....... and i'll give you a extra point for each name and address's of the culprits ???" ( that question was set by greater manchester police on my behalf.)

i started doing the aftershow as compere at sankeys soap,..... and finished off september with me outside salford lads club starting "big mouth strikes again"...
which was reported on bbc's 'northwest tonight'....



and the day finished with me joining my mates "the smythes" on stage in the salforld lads club with me taking lead vocals on "big mouth" ,....a ace day.

there's loads more clips and photos and sound bites and stuff to add over the next few days,.... but that's enough for now,... i've shopping for my mum to do.

hello fantastic fans,..

and welcome to the 'latest news' on myfranksworld web site.. and as i write this ,... my second stint of concerts around the world is already being put in for 2008,... including a ace concert at the 'farther ted convention' (on 'craggy island' ??) in ireland,... new york and germany.... (japan beckonds !!).

but for this blog ,...... it's a retun to my review of 2007 where i'm just about to set off on my world tour......... read on........

so april 2007 arrived with another birthday (35 again) and while everyone in the uk and sky transmission footprint huddled around their tv's to watch my "proper telly show in b/w" to see me chat with 'little man tate' and bring andy craine into your living rooms in glorious 3d (glasses permitting) ,.....and a ace report on 'badly drawn boy'

....meanwhile i had obtained a passport and was about to embark of my frist world tour (the isle of man being the furthest i'd gone up till then !!!!)

first stop ,.... take the u.s. of a. by storm in a day.......

getting into the country prooved a bit of a problem ,...
"where's your luggage sir ? and where will you be staying while in america ?" said the customs man as he went through my bag which contained just a puppets head in my own image,... a keyboard,.... and a santa outfit .
" i'm not staying!" i replied .... "i've only come for the day,..i'm going home later to shop for my mum!"
"get to the back,... andlet's check this guy out ,.... nobody comes to america for the day !!!" (you can read the full customs story by scrolling back on my blogs to april 07)

i did eventually get in ,... and what a day.....
as well as sight seeing - bronx, queens, brooklyn, manhatten, central park, dekota, statten island ferry, ground zero etc etc
i met my fans at the virgin megastore on 14th street,... i did a interview for cable tv with 'rbid t. rabbit' at the shea stadium (all 3 of them !!!),.... filmed part of my pop video at the funfair for "save coney island" ,.... before heading for my first us concert at maxwell's in hobokem - new jersey,... where damon from 'badly drawn boy' joined me onstage for the encore,.... (film at eleven - meanwhile photo's are being added to mymyspace 'pics' all this week) ,...... then it was back to timperley before my mum went up the wall and across the ceiling,.........

"where've you been all day,... ?" asked my mum,... "erm,.. america !" i replied as i went upstairs to bed...
"i'll give you 'america' if you don't get that bedroom tidied...... !" she snapped,...
"you don't need to mum,.... i've already taken it,..... by storm !"

back in britain,.. i had my 'little mark e. smith' puppet being installed in the "it takes two" art exhibition in a northampton gallery ,... while 'the bigshorts' (my sunday football team) were being knocked out of the semi-final of the cup.

so onto the english part of my world tour,... which took in such glamourous and exotic places as grimsby,.. scunthorpe,... hull,.... scarborough,... doncaster,...telfords wharehouse in chester,... bath moles club ,... and the marine hall in fleetwood,...plus my only local show at the salutation in manchester....

and the telly coninued,.. when i was on the first ever channel m brakfast show.

i was starting to do loads of radio too,... with regular spots on iain lee's lbc shows,
nicksy's key 103,.. happy's shows on cheshire fm ,.. and even a bbc radio 5 match comentry for wigan vs. middlesbourgh.

the world tour continued in the 'gute stube' in darmstadt, germany (i'm back there in march '08) with me sitting in the dug-out for the local teams reserve match. (pics to follow),.....and as we moved into may - the final concert on my world tour was at mchugh's in belfast,... where the audience got quite irate when they ealised that i hadforgotten to bring little frank to northern ireland with me,..... but i managed to save the day with a rousing version of "the i.r.a. are really fantastic" ('i can't beleive you did that !",.. said the promoter , shaking his head.) ... but we all enjoyed a good sing-song

..... and another

world tour over it was back to the unexciting ,... like going on itv's "grease is the word"...

more concerts followed - like channel m's music stage for 'euro-cultured' in manchester,... wolverhampton civic hall,.. the half moon in london,... and chorlton irish club....

but my favorite night was not a concert,....
it was my "frank's world" film night at tv21......
we had a big screen ,... and i showed loads of rare supper 8mm films,... like me supporting 'bros' at wembley,.... and rare behind the scenes footage of people like anthony h. wilson, new order and john cooper clarke,... which nobody has ever seen before,.... along with some of my ace animated cartoons and a song or two as well

.... it changed my life that night !!!! and gave me a clear point to the future.....

i'm afraid the "aftershow" night on thursday has been moved ,..... read on,......

i'm also afraid this is not part 2 of my 2007 review,.... that will follow later,... due to me waiting for some photo's........

2007 review (pt 1)

hello fantastic fans,......
and over the next week or so i'll be looking back at my showbiz carreer in 2007. it'll be a bit different than the myspace one with different clips,... and pics,.... and sound etc...... so here we go -

1st of jan kicked off with my "living test card" on channel m (for most of you it's still your(and my) fave),... but that's only with television engineers.......

then it was swithching the christmas lights 'off' at the porters in maccersfield.

and then it was onto doing concerts around the northwest mainly,.... including kicking off a series of cultural nights at oldham library,.....

february saw the second series of my "proper telly show in b/w" started on channel m with emma bunton and andy rourke as my guests,...... the series also included 'the magic numbers', iain lee and 'cast' to name but a few..... and also included a fantastic section each week in 3d (if you had your glasses on).....

......... as for telly else where i was on bbc2's "comedy conections" i don't know why ? as i don't do comedy !!!! maybe it was because i started mrs. merton off !!!!
i also turned up on bbc3 on 'most anoying songs' (no ... not mine - cheekey monkey)

and i also went over to ireland to do the fantastic "podge and rodge show"....

back to concerts,....... i did 4 shows in one day and a live bbc radio broadcast for cominc releif (aswell as being in the peter kaye video) and march even saw me start to do more radio plus a rare day trip down to the alba rooms on the south coast,....

but if you thought that was far for a day trip,....... april had a 6000 mile day trip just round the corner,........ don't miss part 2 of this 2007 review........

"taking america in a day" (well new york actually),..... but as the customs man said as they sent me to the back of the que for the third time !!!! ...... " nobody comes to america for the day !!!!! check this guy out !!!!"

....but the end of march finished with a ce all star concert for manchester vs. cancer
at the m.e.n. arena ,.... with ian brown, noel gallagher, paul weller and of course me.
(and i'm doing it again this year).
