Only found out about Frank’s passing a few weeks ago. Devastated. Saw him a few times in St Helens and introduced many family and friends to his unique humour which was never offensive, had an innocence about it but was always uproariously funny.
I hope the world never forgets Frank and of course his alter ego Little Frank. The world has lost a genuinely funny person and an equally funny cardboard puppet.
I listen to his records and cassette tapes and play his games in my ZX81 with a mixture of happiness now tinged with sadness that I’ll never see him again.
Farewell Frank, we love you, you know we do, we really do.
Thank you (for everything).

Mr Sidebottom is, and was, for me, the greatest living Englishman. bless you Mr S. only a truly beautiful human being could create something so utterly..well… really fantastic! I wish there were more people like this, what a lovely world it would be. I grew up near Timperly and am proud of that little link to a true icon! Frank, i love you, you know i do, i really do.

Well i have only just found out about this sad news and I am indeed very sad…. my family and I loved Frank and Luttle Frank very much, ever since the first time i saw him at the reading festival in the early 1990′s. We’ll carry on signing his ditties and will forever more add… ‘only when the wind blows’ to every song with a crap ending we sing around the campfire at the many festival we work at…x

Sad news indeed.

Used to watch him on TV when I was younger and saw him live at Sheffield & Buxton in the last couple of years.

Something really connected me with his unique type of humour and I know I will keep on laughing with him.

Was planning to see him again, but sadly not to be now.

Like another poster has already said -

Deserved far more credit and recognition than he was given.
